The Program Will Teach Each Participant To:
* Utilize sustained silent reading
* Learn to imporve vocabulary skills
* Choose reading mateerial that fostsers motivation to read
* Help students read with a purpose
* Benefit from oral book reading, done in the contest of sharing
* Improve comprehension by removing roadblocks before students read
* Learn specific comprehension skills throuogh reading, main ideas, and details, organizational patterns, predicting outcomes, QAR strategy, cause and effect, inferences and drawing conclusions.
* Explore reading strategies through story-based discussions
* Utilize background experiences (prior knowledge)
* Learn the concept of reading rates through speed reading techniques
* Help students read with critical evaluation

Instructors
certified in both English and Math. Test taking techniques taught,
progress charted and weaknesses detected and corrected. Review of skill
concepts and question types covering the new SAT test: analogies, vocabulary in context,
sentence completion, comprehension and critical reading and written essay. Mathematical
concepts are covered in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data analysis, statistics, and probability .
